6:30pm Dinner & Program
8:30pm Young Alumni After Party
On Sunday, December 8, 2019, we will joyfully gather as a community when Camp Ramah in California honors Lesley & Jeff Wolman at our Annual Celebration Gala. We will also celebrate Amy Mendelsohn, who will receive the Alumni Leadership Award.
It is our great pleasure and privilege to recognize Lesley & Jeff for their outstanding leadership and generosity to Camp Ramah and the greater Jewish community. Both attended Jewish summer camp as children and their Camp Ramah journey began with their children, Yale and Serena, who spent many memorable summers as Ramahniks. Lesley is a member of the Board of Directors Executive Committee and is currently the co-chair of the Shomrei Ramah Society. Jeff also is on the Board and serves as Treasurer of the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Lesley and Jeff are passionate about Jewish camp as well as mental and physical wellness.
Camp Ramah has similarly played an integral role in Amy’s life. The granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors who came to this country committed to offering their children and grandchildren Jewish experiences, Amy spent 15 summers at Camp Ramah in California. She began as a chanicha (camper) in 1999, and then became a Madricha (counselor), Rosh Edah (division head) and Program Director. Amy is currently the Director of the Los Angeles Jewish Teen Initiative at The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, where she works to enhance the Jewish teen engagement landscape in Los Angeles.
To sustain the legacy of Jewish Camp and its role in Jewish life, proceeds from this evening’s celebration will support camp programming for chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff). We are especially excited to announce the Nechama: Ramah Staff Wellness Fund in memory of Jeff’s eldest sister Nadia z’l. Nechama, which means “comfort” in Hebrew, was also Nadia’s Hebrew name. Funds raised during the Gala Celebration will form an endowment to fund initiatives that promote staff mental and physical wellness while at Camp Ramah. These efforts will ensure that our staff continue to serve as a dugma (role model) for generations of Ramahniks to come.
To honor Lesley & Jeff and Amy, become a member of the Honorary Committee, purchase a sponsorship package/table and attend the Celebration Gala.
