Journey around the Givah: A Virtual 5k with Camp Ramah!

We are excited to announce Camp Ramah in California’s FIRST Virtual 5K Journey around the Givah on Sunday, May 2, 2021!  Walk or run safely from any location you choose — close to your home, around a park, or on a trail. Join us to raise funds to help sustain and support our beloved camp by becoming a walker, a sponsor, or by making a donation.

Fundraising Milestones: “Journeying around Camp Ramah”

Take a look at our milestones and prepare for your virtual journey around camp!
For each individual that raises…

  • $36, you reach the starting line (virtually) at Fairview Rd and will receive a Camp Ramah face-mask & race bib.
  • $180 you’ll reach the Shetach Ha’Tzrifim (The Bunk Area) and will receive a Journey Around the Givah t-shirt to wear on race day. (*If you meet this milestone after April 5th and as we get closer to the event we may run out of certain sizes, and you may not receive your t-shirt by race day)
  • $360, you’ll reach Nagarut (woodworking) or your favorite Ramah chug (elective) and will receive a Camp Ramah baseball cap.
  • $720, you’ll reach the Breicha (Pool) and will receive a Camp Ramah towel to use next time you’re in Ojai.
  • $1,000, you’ll reach the Chadar Ochel (Dining Hall) and will receive a Camp Ramah water bottle.
  • $1,800, you’ll reach Chavalim ( Ropes Course) and will receive a Camp Ramah duffel bag.
  • $3,600 you’ll reach The Bench (at the top of the Givah) and will receive a cozy Camp Ramah sweatshirt.
  • $5,000 you’ll reach the Givah (Hill) and will receive Camp Ramah sweatpants to match your sweatshirt.
  • $10,000 you’ll finish a lap around the Givah! You’ll receive personalized Camp Ramah sneakers!
    * All prizes and swag items are subject to change.

The top walker/fundraiser will receive a beautiful handmade quilt created from vintage Camp Ramah T-Shirts! Thank you to Elyse Weise for making this beautiful blanket for us.
T-shirts and masks will be shipped before the walk. All other items will ship afterward.

Frequently Asked Questions

An opportunity to fundraise and walk/run a 5K close to your home.
We will have a ruach (spirit) filled virtual kickoff event (on Zoom) the morning of Sunday, May 2nd and send everyone off to walk/run their own 5K route.
You can register and fundraise to be either a walker/runner, become a sponsor, or simply make a donation to a participant or the overall event.
In order to receive the event t-shirt and to participate as a "Journey around the Givah" walker/runner, you'll need to raise at least $180 (but we hope you'll raise even more)! *If you raise $36 you’ll receive a mask and a race bib

The Journey is open to anyone, of any age, who would like to support Camp Ramah in California.
The generous donations made to “Journey around the Givah” will help sustain Camp Ramah in California during this difficult time. Beyond supporting the magical and life-changing experience that Camp Ramah in California provides its campers, your generosity will help to continue the legacy of Camp Ramah and its role in Jewish life for many years to come.
No, this event will be 100% remote. We will “gather” virtually by Zoom for our kick-off and then you’ll head out for a walk/run in your neighborhood or other destination of choice. We will be together only via Zoom on May 2nd, 2021.
If you would like to register to walk as a family, there are two options.
  • You can create a family "Team” and register each family member individually. This will mean that each family member has their own fundraising page, and will be raising money individually.
  • You can create one “walker/runner” page for the whole family. This will enable you to raise money together on one page. If you reach the $180 milestone as a family you can purchase additional masks and T-Shirts for the race for $36 (Mask+T-shirt = $36). If you would like to do this please contact Maryn to coordinate.
