We are grateful to Sheryl Sandberg, along with Rob Goldberg and Tom Bernthal, for their extraordinary generosity in establishing the Dave Goldberg Scholarship at Camp Ramah in California. Their gift will open the door for more children to experience the same sense of belonging, growth, and Jewish joy that defined Dave’s summers in Ojai.

When will the Dave Goldberg Scholarship begin?
The scholarship will first be awarded for Kayitz 2027.

Who is the scholarship designed to support?
The Dave Goldberg Scholarship is intended for families with the most significant financial need, helping ensure that every family can consider a Ramah journey for their child.

How will families be identified?
Families may be selected through Ramah’s application and financial aid process or referred by a rabbi or communal partner, such as Jewish Family Service or Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters.  There isn’t a specific application for the Goldberg Scholarship.

Is there a special application?
No.  Families will apply for camp and financial aid like any other family and based on their need may receive a Goldberg Scholarship.

What will the scholarship cover?
Awards will cover at least two-thirds of tuition and may cover up to the full cost of tuition. Additional assistance may also be available for transportation and necessary camp supplies.

Does receiving financial assistance guarantee admission to camp?
No. Scholarship consideration and camp admission are separate processes. Campers must first be accepted and enrolled by Ramah based on factors including readiness, program fit, and available space.

Will other financial aid still be available?
Yes. Ramah will continue to provide hundreds of financial aid awards to families who demonstrate need but may not qualify for the Dave Goldberg Scholarship.
