Summer Visitor Guide

Shabbat Shalom and Bruchim haba’aim (welcome) to Camp Ramah! We’re so excited that you’ll be joining us for Shabbat at camp.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, please be sure all adults have completed and signed our visitor form.

Below, please find a few handy links as well as some guidelines to make your Shabbat visit as meaningful as possible…

Shabbat at Ramah is a special time. All adults at camp are role models for our chanichim (campers) and tzevet (staff). Therefore, in order to make your time with us as meaningful as possible, we offer the following gentle reminders:

  • Camp Ramah is a nut-free and kosher facility. In order to ensure the safety of all campers, staff, and guests, please avoid bringing in any outside food or snacks. Camp is also alcohol free.
  • Camp Ramah is “screen free” on Shabbat and all week long. We encourage you to turn off your phone entirely, but if you feel you must leave it on, please remember to only use it in the privacy of your own room. In addition, please refrain from playing music, using electronic devices, writing, driving, etc. in common areas in observance of Shabbat.
  • Shabbat walks are a treasured Ramah tradition, and we invite you to explore our beautiful campus. However, please remember to avoid all camper living spaces – that includes the shetach hatzrifim (bunk area), the tent areas, and the Whizin Building.
  • We welcome you to use your camera to capture camp memories both before Shabbat begins on Friday afternoon and after Shabbat ends on Saturday evening. Afterwards, please avoid sharing photos of children (other than your own) on social media.
  • If your child is at camp, please share any questions or concerns with a director or your child’s yoetzet rather than to their madrich or madricha (counselors). You may join your child’s edah (age group) for tefillot, but are asked to refrain from joining their edah for other activities.
  • Men are asked and women are encouraged to wear kippot during tefillot (services) and in the chadar ochel (dining hall). A tallit is also expected to be worn during tefillot (optional for women).
  • If you have brought anything from another parent for a camper in camp, please bring it to the office for distribution.

Again, we are so thrilled you will take part in our kehillah kedosha (sacred community) this Shabbat. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Shabbat guest liaison team with any questions or concerns during your time with us.

B’shalom,

Rabbi Joe, Ariella, Randy, Mike, and the entire Camp Ramah team
