Shalom Adat Shalom Families,
Bruchim Habaim (Welcome) to Kayitz 2025! What an incredible first few days it has been here in Ojai. Adat Shalom hit the ground running this week—getting to know our edah (age group) and ohel (tent)-mates, diving into chuggim (electives), and soaking up all the energy and excitement of camp. We’ve already spent time creating in omanut (art), cooking up tasty treats in bishul (cooking), dancing in rikkud, flying through the air in circus, and so much more! The ruach (spirit) is real, and we couldn’t be more excited for our first Shabbat together as an edah.
This group of chanichim (campers) has shown so much enthusiasm and joy. On Tuesday night, we had our very first peulat erev (evening program), which was a high-energy scavenger hunt around camp! It was amazing to see the chanichim working together in groups, racing across camp, completing silly and creative challenges, and building new friendships in the process. They’ve jumped right into camp life—enjoying sports, exploring Jewish learning through yahadut, and getting into the rhythm of their chuggim. As we head into our first full week, we’re so proud of how they’ve embraced every moment and can’t wait for what’s ahead.
Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Shabbat!
Jason Marks, Rosh Adat Shalom
