Shalom Kochavim Families,
From the very first day, Kochavim has been buzzing with energy, laughter, and a strong sense of curiosity. Our chanichim (campers) are already forming new friendships, exploring camp for the first time—or seeing it with new eyes—and jumping headfirst into the rhythm of kayitz (summer). Whether mountain biking down trails, flipping in circus, stirring up something delicious in bishul (cooking), or dancing with full hearts in rikkud, it’s been amazing to watch this group begin to discover who they are within our edah (age group) and within our larger camp community.
Our evenings have been just as magical. In our first peulat erev (night activity), we explored what it means to be part of a constellation—each camper a star, connected through shared values and creativity. Through tag games, charades, arts and crafts, and glowstick diagrams, Kochavim 2025 came together to form a constellation of their own. Later in the week, we embarked on the Oregon Trail, where small groups packed wagons, crossed rivers, played horseshoes, and celebrated their arrival at the final destination with some epic line dancing under the stars. The kef (fun) has been nonstop, and the sense of togetherness is already so strong.
We can’t wait to welcome in our first Shabbat together—a moment to reflect, sing, and shine as the constellation we’ve already begun to form.
Shabbat Shalom,
Sophia Trief, Rosh Kochavim
