Shalom Sollelim Families,
Bruchim Habaim (Welcome) to Kayitz 2025! What an amazing first week it has been here in Ojai. Sollelim has already begun to settle into the rhythm of camp life—meeting our ohel (tent)-mates, jumping into chuggim (electives), and exploring everything from omanut (art) and bishul (cooking) to rikkud (dance), circus, and more! The chanichim (campers) are bringing great energy and excitement to everything they do, and we’re so proud of how quickly they’ve started to form meaningful connections within the edah.
Our first peulat erev (evening activity) focused on building community and letting every voice shine. Through edah-wide Bingo and a fun twist called the One-Minute-Soapbox, each chanich had the chance to introduce themselves and speak passionately about something they love—ranging from sports and Taylor Swift to conspiracy theories and fashion! It was incredible to see how supportive and respectful the group was as they learned about each other and started creating bonds that will carry through the summer.
This Shabbat, we’re thrilled to continue building that spirit as we come together for our first Shabbat Oneg— a Ramah tradition where we sing our hearts out with ruach-filled songs that have echoed through camp for generations. It’s a joyful, powerful way to welcome in Shabbat as one edah, and we can’t wait to experience it together for the first time this kayitz.
Wishing you a restfu and meaningful Shabbat.
Hannah Poltarak, Rosh Sollelim
