Shalom Kochavim Families,
Our first full week of camp has been out of this world! We kicked things off with our first Shabbat as a kehillah (community), filled with ruach (spirit), singing, learning, and meaningful moments together. It was the perfect way to start what turned out to be a truly unforgettable week.
We gathered as a full machane (camp) for our all-camp concert, where Kochavim sang loud and proud—and then, we had one of the most beloved events of the summer: Leil Kochavim! This magical, top-secret night was packed with surprises. From karaoke and dance parties to “Jew-pardy” and silent star tag, the night was bursting with kef and laughter. The chanichim (campers) were glowing—literally and figuratively—as they embraced every moment with classic Kochavim ruach.
But we didn’t stop there. The very next morning, we rolled right into Yom Fort, a legendary Kochavim tradition. Armed with benches and a whole lot of imagination, Kochavim transformed the givah (hill) into our own cozy kingdom. Campers beaded hair, made bracelets, painted nails, and sang their hearts out—all while relaxing in the sunshine in a space they created together. Other edot looked on with admiration, and it was clear: Kochavim is the place to be.
We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings.
Shabbat Shalom,
Sophia, Rosh Kochavim
